πŸ“— Create Your First Template

This article explains how to create a template using Parsio’s template-based parser.

The template-based parser works best for documents with a fixed and consistent structure (for example, machine-generated emails).

If your documents have changing layouts or are unstructured, consider trying Airparser, our advanced LLM-powered parser, which is more flexible and reliable in most cases.

Before you start

Make sure you have already:

  • Created a mailbox

  • Forwarded at least one email or uploaded a file to that mailbox

Once your first document appears in the inbox, you can define what data Parsio should extract.

Create a template

In most cases, creating a template is quick and straightforward.

Step 1: Open the document and start a new template

From the Inbox page, open the email or file you want to use as a sample and click the New template icon.

Step 2: Highlight fields to extract

  1. Highlight the text you want to extract.

  2. Click Add field.

  3. Give the field a meaningful name.

You can click on a field name later to rename or edit it.

Step 3: Create the template

Once all required fields are added, click Create template.

You’ll be returned to the document preview page.

If the option Process failed and unprocessed documents is enabled, Parsio will start parsing automatically.

Refresh the page after a few seconds to see the extracted results.

What happens next

Congratulations πŸŽ‰ You’ve created your first template.

Parsio will now automatically extract data from similar incoming emails or files sent to the same mailbox.

Important: Templates work by matching static structure. If the layout changes frequently, consider using an AI-powered or GPT-powered parser instead.
